“It is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”

1 Corinthians 4:2

God has entrusted us with many things to steward (manage): relationships, finances, faith, suffering, and the list goes on. When God entrusts us with something to steward (manage, take care of), it is required that we be found faithful. Let’s explore a couple of these topics…

Children. Little humans. Mini Mes. Arrows In Your Quiver (that sometimes make you quiver).

Whatever you call them, in some way, you and I have been charged with the responsibility and opportunity of investing into and stewarding the upcoming generation. The kids in your life may be biological, adopted, nephew/niece, classroom students, grandchildren, or connected to you in many other ways.

How they are related to you is beside the point. How you relate to them is the point.

No matter what stage of life you find yourself in, it is your responsibility in some form to pour yourself into the upcoming generation. Psalm 127 compares them to arrows in a warrior’s hands, reminding us that the upcoming generation is the next round of ammunition God will use in His assault on Satan’s kingdom. In our own ways and settings, we should each be investing our time and energy into reaching, sharpening, aiming, and launching them toward the target.

You are not just a stay-at-home mom, Uncle, Grandma, neighbor, or teacher. You are an important part of that kid’s life, showing them — with the time and resources you’re allotted — what it looks like to follow Jesus.

A good friend of mine once told me, “The most important work you may ever do for the Kingdom of God is to raise your kids to do more for the Kingdom of God than you ever did.”

“It is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”

1 Corinthians 4:2

Whatever your role, be faithful with it.
