“Can I speak with the manager, please?”

Have you ever used that phrase? It’s normally the question you ask before letting the manager know how the work staff failed in some way. But if the staff failed, why contact the manager? Because as the manager, he or she is responsible for managing what happens in the business.

Did you know you and I are managers?

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 4 that we are “stewards of the mystery of God.” He goes on to say, “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” (‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

“Steward” is just a fancy Bible word for “manager.” Like Paul, we have been entrusted with the mystery of God. In short, we are managers of the Gospel. We don’t change lives; the Gospel does that. But it’s our job to get it to them.

So how are you doing managing the Message?

Do your friends see Jesus through your lives?

Does your work ethic represent Jesus?

Are you demonstrating the love of Christ in your relationships?

At the end of my life, I won’t be responsible for how well you did in your God-given mission. Conversely, you won’t be responsible for how well I did. We are each responsible for managing our lives and our actions.

“It is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” How are you doing with that mission?
