“Regift.” It’s a common practice that is done by many, but looked down on by most. You know what I’m talking about. Picture frames, cat sweaters, candles… You get something you don’t want and you start thinking about who you can regift it to. It’s generally frowned upon in social circles, but it’s encouraged in the church! Take a trip through 1 Corinthians 12-14 and you’ll see why…
12:7 – To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
12:25 – …that the members may have the same care for one another.
14:3 – …the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.
14:5 – …so that the church may be built up.
14:12 – …strive to excel in building up the church.
14:26 – …Let all things be done for building up.
Paul is reminding the church that every Christian has a gift so they can regift it for the benefit of others and the glory of God!
If you don’t know what your gift is, take the spiritual gifts assessment at awaken.church/catchfire and find out. Once you get your results, share them with us and join the conversation on my Facebook page!
If you know your gift/talent/skillset, put it to work! God gave you a gift and placed you in the church so you could regift it for the benefit of others and the glory of God!
