For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.

1 Thessalonians 1:8 (ESV)

God did an amazing, transformational work in the Thessalonians. Paul wrote about how they “turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven…” From idolatry to faithful servants! Amazing. He changed them so He could use them to change the world…and He wants to do the same with us!

The Christians in Thessalonians had some unique challenges to face. A major one was persecution, but also their geographical placement. Thessalonica was located on the Egnatian Way, the main East to West trade & military route between Rome & Asia Minor. It’s interesting that the word of the Lord sounded forth from an ancient military town!

Army life is tough. We’re learning that truth more than ever now that we are 8 years into life in a military town. Ft. Campbell, which neighbors Clarksville, is the second largest military post in the nation, with 25,000+ soldiers as well as their family members! The unstable, transient lifestyle of military families is challenging. And yet… what if that instability is part of God’s strategy to amplify grace around the world?

We recently asked a few of our military families who have restationed to update us on where they are now and how they are doing. You can see their video below. Amazingly, not only does the military make ripe ground for the Gospel, but it also enables the government to send out our missionaries all over the world!

It’s a good reminder that God will strategically use our surrendered circumstances.

Whatever your situation, when you choose to surrender control and let God use it as He desires, you’ll have front row seats to see Him do things you couldn’t have dreamed up!
