We’ve spent the last few Mondays learning lessons from the sequoias. I hope it’s been helpful. Any time I think about trees, roots, and the resulting growth, I think of one of my favorite Psalms…
The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon [or a sequoia in California]. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
Psalms 92:12-15 ESV
Did you see all that growth?
- Bear fruit
- Full of sap and green
Here’s the catch: those words are only said of trees that are rooted. If you want to see spiritual growth in your life, remember this:
Growth requires roots and roots require time. Get planted so you can flourish.
There’s no shortcut to growth. It takes time and commitment.
If you want to live a life that will produce something worthwhile, here’s the formula: get planted in the house of the Lord, and don’t go anywhere. Stay committed. Be in relationship with God and His people. Growth will be inevitable!
