Today is Day 71 in our journey through the Bible in 90 days.

Today we look at the final 3 prophets of the Old Testament: Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. They’re known as the “post-exilic prophets” or the “restoration prophets.” They all ministered to Israel after they had come back from exile.

Haggai’s main message was prioritizing. The Temple building project had been pushed to the back burner because God’s people had become stagnant again in their own self-sufficiency. Right there is a huge lesson for all of us. Even when God displays His love and mercy toward us in huge ways, we can so easily forget and lose sight of what’s important. Remember to keep the main thing the main thing. Israel had forgotten that in Haggai’s day.

As God spoke through Haggai, it roused an excitement in a guy named Zerubbabel.

“And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,” – Haggai 1:14

The work began again.

The question that looms in my mind is this: is there something that God began in your life or a vision He gave you that you’ve pushed to the back burner? Today is the day (don’t wait till tomorrow) to rise up and continue what the Lord began. He wants to use you for something great – don’t let your complacency and lack of priorities get in His way!
