It’s not about the reading; it’s about the rhythm.

Each week I share a thought from the previous week’s reading here.

Have you ever been so excited about something that you just started singing? This is a common occurrence in my house (although not my singing, which everyone is thankful for). The beautiful songs of my wife and daughters often echo through the halls of our home, especially when something exciting is happening.

Heaven gets excited too. And when heaven gets excited, you can be sure there’s a party. But heaven doesn’t celebrate the same things we celebrate. While we may celebrate our favorite sports team winning, a great deal we found online, or our most recent purchase, heaven throws parties for something different…

Luke 15:10 – There is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

One repentant sinner makes the angels in heaven lose. their. minds!

The angels don’t rejoice over a new church building.

They didn’t write any songs about the amount of money that came in last Sunday.

There’s no party in heaven about how many people came to church.

It’s not that those don’t matter; it’s just that souls and salvation matter far more.

What grabs the angels’ attention is when the plan of salvation finally breaks through to a sinner’s heart and they surrender to Jesus as their Savior.

So if heaven gets all amped up about that, it only seems right that we would put all of our attention and energy into that same thing and throw a party when we see it happen! A party in heaven should get a party going on earth too!
