“But whyyyyyy?”

If you’re a parent, that’s a dreaded question you probably hear from your kids far more often than you’d like. Wouldn’t it be nice if, when we told our kids to do something, it just happened simply because we said so? Imagine that!

That’s how God talked about His commands in Leviticus 19.

Sixteen times in thirty-seven verses, He gives a command and follows it up with “I am the Lord your God” or “I am the Lord.” Whether He’s discussing what they should do, what they should not do, how they should treat others, or whatever the topic may be, simply stating who He is is enough.

Is it enough for you or do you, like our kids, require endless reasoning behind what has been requested? Let’s let God’s holiness be enough by itself.

“God, why should I trust You with my finances?”

“I am the Lord your God.”

“God, why should I take this step of faith?”

“I am the Lord your God.”

“God, why should I keep praying when it seems like You’re not answering?”

“I am the Lord your God.”

“God, why should I keep going in my marriage when it is so challenging?”

“I am the Lord your God.”

Let God be enough for whatever you’re facing today or whatever questions you’re wrestling with!
