I’m not sure who invented the backup camera for cars, but they’re a genius (and probably a billionaire too). It’s so helpful to be able to see what’s behind you so you don’t make any moves you wish you hadn’t.
As of just a few hours ago, it’s a new year. 2019 is upon us whether you were ready for it or not. It’s a great time to glance in the backup camera and take in what you learned as we look forward to the new year. Listen to the author of Hebrews…
“Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.”
Hebrews 2:1 (ESV)
You don’t want to “drift away from” the lessons of the last year. So as you look back over ‘18 in prep for ‘19, here are a few things to consider…
What were some new things you learned?
What did God speak to you?
What were some mistakes you made that you should avoid?
What are some good habits you should work to develop?
How can you prioritize things better this year?
Whatever the lessons were that you learned last year, do what the author of Hebrews says and “pay much closer attention” to them.
Don’t live in the past. Learn from the past so you can live confidently in the present.
2019 is looking good. Not because we are good, but because our God is good. All the time. Rejoice in that truth as we launch into the future. God gave you a new day and a new year for a new purpose. I can’t wait to see what He has ahead for us all!
