Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:6-7 NLT —
Philippians 4:6-7 is great in most of your favorite Bible translations, but have you heard it in the NWT (New Worriers’ Translation)? Here it is, just in case you haven’t…
“Don’t pray about anything; instead, worry about everything. Tell your Facebook friends what you need, but don’t thank God for anything He has done. Then you will experience heart-wrenching worry, which exceeds anything we can overcome. That worry will burden your hearts and minds as you try to live like everything is ok.”
— Feelings 4:6-7 NWT —
You may laugh at my NWT version of Philippians 4:6-7, but let’s be honest about how accurate it is to our lives. No wonder our hearts and minds are so burdened and we are trying to live like everything is ok! That’s the painful result of reversing prayer and worry.
Probably one of the greatest displays of “God’s peace that exceeds anything we can understand” is Jesus willingly walking into the arms of His backstabbing betrayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. He faced the pain with perfect peace because His heart had been prepared by prayer.
Prayer is a weapon that prepares us for battle and arms us with peace. No matter what you face today, remember this:
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
God’s got you. Trust Him.
