Maybe you have heard someone say, “I can’t see the forest for the trees.” The idea is, they’re so close to the details, they can’t see the full picture. The same can happen with God’s Word. You might end up thinking, “I can’t see the Bible for all the verses.” Although it’s good to dig deep and study hard, sometimes you need to zoom out so you can see the full picture.
Allow me to help you zoom out for a minute…
The Bible was written and compiled by over forty different authors who spoke three different languages and lived on three different continents, over a period of about 1,500 years!
If you’ve ever done a Mad Lib, you know that in just a couple minutes, with just a few contributors, you can make quite the crazy story. In light of the time period, languages, and amount of people who contributed to the Bible, just those stats show us how miraculous the Bible is! Not only does it not contradict itself, it often predicts events that are then fulfilled hundreds or thousands of years later!
When you zoom out and take a look at the full picture, you’ll gain all new perspective on God’s Word, which will give you a new perspective on your own life.
The Bible you hold in your hands (or scroll through on your screen) is so much more than a history book, some poetry, and some prophecy. Although it’s only part of what happened, it’s all that we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). Get into God’s Word so it can get into you!
