Ever met someone with straight hair? They probably want curly hair.
Ever met someone with curly hair? They probably want straight hair.
That’s just how we are. It’s natural to want what we don’t have. Big companies thrive off of it. Think Black Friday. You probably didn’t need that TV, but come on. It was such a good deal!
It seems that contentment is a long, lost art. Let’s change that.
On the topic of contentment, one of the most-quoted passages of Scripture speaks about it,. But just because it’s quoted often doesn’t mean it’s applied as often.
The Lord is my Shepherd, I have all that I need.
Psalm 23:1 NLT
Psalm 23 addresses a lot of things, but it starts with contentment. “I have all that I need” is a bold statement. It’s an eternally true statement, however, with Jesus as our Shepherd!
Contentment says, “If I don’t have it, I don’t need it, and when I need it, God will provide it.”
God loves you too much to demand something He hasn’t provided the ability or resources for. If you don’t have it, it’s not something you currently need. However, when the time comes when that thing is needed, you can rest assured God will willingly and abundantly provide it!
As you talk to God today, it’s good to ask for what you need, but make sure to take some extra time to thank Him for what you already have.
