Isn’t it frustrating when the car you’re driving near can’t seem to stay in their lane? They keep drifting over, crossing the line, and not following the speed limit. When that happens, a friend of mine (he will remain unnamed, to protect the innocent) plays a game he calls, “Cell Phone or Stupid?” Once he finally gets to pass the car, he’ll glance over to the driver of the other car to see which one it is. Almost always, the answer is “cell phone.” (Sometimes, it appears to be the other.)

When we get distracted, we tend to drift over into other people’s lanes, which can be dangerous for all of us.

Here’s how Paul addressed the issue — from a spiritual standpoint — to the Corinthian church and to Pastor Timothy…

Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him.

1 Corinthians 7:17 (ESV)

“fulfill your ministry…”

2 Timothy 4:5 (ESV)

Sometimes we get distracted from living the life assigned to us because we’re too focused on living somebody else’s life and fulfilling their ministry. It’s easy to go to church for someone else, take notes for someone else, and apply God’s Word for someone else.

But what about you?

Are you leading the life the Lord has assigned to you?

Are you fulfilling your ministry?

Keep your heart engaged, head up, and eyes on Jesus. Stay in your lane as you faithfully follow Jesus wherever He leads.
