One thing in life that is guaranteed is that nothing is guaranteed. Everything in our world has a beginning and end: days, seasons, meals, meetings, money, even time and life themselves! Living in such an unpredictable and constantly changing world adds a lot of uncertainty to our lives. That begs the question: Where do you turn when times are rough or things are shaky?
You’re probably aware that Paul says, “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). That’s an oft-quoted verse, and it sounds great when we say it, but it can be very difficult to live out. How important is it that our faith is firm? God answered that question through the prophet Isaiah, as he spoke to the nation of Israel. He put it very simply:
If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.
The firmness of your faith determines so much of the quality of your life and your vision for the future. Since faith is our foundation, when our faith is shaky, everything else tends to be shaky. The firmness of your faith is vital for your future progress and growth.
If you need some great examples of faith, take some time to read through Hebrews 11, often referred to as the “Hall of Faith.” It’s an entire chapter dedicated to people just like us who pushed through challenging (and sometimes impossible) situations with firm faith.
