Some of Jesus’ final words to His disciples were, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15). Paul told the Roman Christians, “Faith comes by hearing…” (Romans 10:17)
Followers of Jesus are amplifiers of the Gospel.
Although we are bearers of the good news, you may have discovered that not everyone thinks the good news is actually good news. Paul encountered that in Thessalonica as he preached. Acts 17 records a scene where the Jewish leaders stirred up a mob and attacked one of Paul’s friends, saying “those who have turned the world upside-down have come here too!”
Let’s be clear – God created the world right-side up. Paul didn’t turn it upside-down – sin did. The message we bear is the good news that God is restoring and redeeming His creation!
When Paul wrote a letter to the church in Thessalonica, in the first sentence, he lets us in on the main thing God uses to turn the world right-side up…
Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.
1 Thessalonians 1:1 (ESV)
Here’s God’s primary tool He uses to turn the world right-side up: Tight-knit community founded on Jesus whose message is grace.
As we gather together in tight-knit communities (large and small groups), united by Jesus, and amplifying God’s grace, God will use us to turn the world right-side up.
Turn up the volume on grace and watch what God does!
