Hebrews 11 records some of the most faith-filled moments in the lives of God’s people throughout history: Noah building the ark, Abraham stepping out in faith, Israel marching around Jericho… You get the point. It’s a summary of some of the most epic stories chronicled throughout Scripture.

Joseph made it into Hebrews 11, but maybe not for the part of his story you might think.

If I’m writing about the biggest moments of Joseph’s life, I’m going to write about him fleeing sexual temptation or interpreting dreams, or remaining faithful when we was forgotten in prison. But those aren’t the moments that made it. Instead, the Holy Spirit led the author of Hebrews to write about his dying words.

By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones.

Hebrews 11:22 (ESV)

As Joseph spoke up by faith about God’s future rescue of His people, it went down as one of the biggest moments of faith in Joseph’s life. We learn a lot from that…

Sometimes some of the biggest moments of our lives are easily overlooked. Don’t be any less faithful in those moments. God is watching.

The words we speak about the future communicate our belief and trust in God to fulfill His promises. Those should never be taken lightly.

God sees our faith. Even when others seem to think they’re just words or some crazy idea we have, God sees and is honored by our willingness to believe in His faithfulness.
