Perspective is important, and we need it often. Part of knowing who you are is knowing who you used to be. Allow me to jog your memory for a minute…
Separated from God (Romans 3:23)
A child of wrath (Ephesians 2:3)
Dead in my sin (Ephesians 2:1)
Headed to hell (Romans 6:23)
Alive in Christ (Ephesians 2:5)
Seated with Christ (Ephesians 2:6)
Saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8)
God’s workmanship (Ephesians 2:10)
Chosen (1 Peter 2:9)
Part of God’s family (1 Peter 2:10)
Gifted (1 Peter 4:10)
Forgiven (1 John 1:9)
Filled with eternal hope (Romans 6:23)…
Who you are in Christ is infinitely better than anyone you could ever be on your own.
Don’t settle for the world’s labels or even the labels you are tempted to place on yourself – no matter how good or accurate they may sound. You’re not who you will be one day, but praise God you’re not who you used to be!
