Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord; it is fitting for the pure to praise him.
Psalm 33:1 (NLT)
“How does this look?” is a common question around our house. Whether it’s my wife asking me about her clothes or me asking her about mine, we often use each other’s judgment to form our own opinion about what we put on that day.
Spiritually speaking, Psalm 33 is a reminder that praise always looks good on the pure of heart.
You don’t become pure by any action of your own – spiritual purification only happens through the blood of Christ that takes away our sin. But when you’ve put your faith in Christ, God sees you as pure, and it is only fitting that praise would then coming pouring out of our lives.
There are many days where you may not be “feeling it” when it comes to praise, but emotions are beside the point. Praise, like love, isn’t an emotion; it’s a decision, and it’s only fitting for those who are forgiven.
So wherever you find yourself today, it is fitting for you to praise God for how He has purified you. Mountaintop or valley, He is with us, so acknowledge His presence and give Him some praise!
